Report: Unknown Yet If Bulls Will Make Alex Caruso Available In Trade Talks

It’s unknown in league circles yet if the Chicago Bulls will make Alex Caruso available in trade talks, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Multiple contenders are interested in trading for Caruso.

“There are likewise no firm indications yet in circulation that the two-way Bull who would surely generate lots of interest leaguewide — Alex Caruso — will be made available between now and the Feb. 8 trade deadline,” Stein wrote. “Caruso is in the third season of a four-year, $37 million deal.”

The Los Angeles Lakers and Miami Heat are interested in trading for Caruso, sources told NBA Analysis Network. Caruso is one of the best defenders in the NBA. He made the All-Defensive First Team last season and he could make it again this season.

Caruso is averaging 7.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists for the Bulls while shooting 59.1% from the field, 44.0% from beyond the arc and 63.6% from the free-throw line.

Caruso signed a four-year, $37 million contract with the Bulls in August 2021. He’s making $9.5 million this season.

“Coveted is a good word for him. If you want to make a trade tomorrow they could trade Alex Caruso,” one NBA exec said about Caruso during a chat with Sean Deveney of Heavy Sports. “Half the teams in the league would be there with an offer. There’s a lot of teams monitoring that situation and they’re looking at Caruso more than anyone on that roster. Just a matter of when the Bulls are ready to make changes and ready to let him go.”

Caruso has career averages of 6.1 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.4 blocks with the Lakers and Bulls. Zach LaVine and the Bulls are open to parting ways, so Caruso could be traded after LaVine is moved.
