Bulls Trade For Wizards’ Tyus Jones, Danilo Gallinari In Bold New Proposal

One NBA writer is proposing that the Chicago Bulls acquire Tyus Jones and Danilo Gallinari from the Washington Wizards in a bold deal. Greg Swartz of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Bulls and Wizards:

Chicago Bulls Receive: PG Tyus Jones, PF Danilo Gallinari

Washington Wizards Receive: PG Lonzo Ball, SG Dalen Terry, 2024 first-round pick (lottery-protected via Portland Trail Blazers), 2028 second-round pick, 2029 second-round pick

The Bulls made the playoffs in 2022 because they had a great floor general in Lonzo Ball. Swartz thinks Jones could help Chicago become a playoff team again since he’s a great passer who doesn’t turn the ball over and someone who can shoot from the perimeter.

The Bulls would also add Gallinari if this trade idea happened. The veteran is a proven 3-point shooter.

“The Wizards could help bring some peace and harmony to the Bulls, who have a lot of talent if the right floor general can bring it together,” Swartz wrote in his NBA trade column. “Jones, 27, is averaging 13.7 points, 6.7 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 51.5 percent overall and 43.8 percent from three in his first three games for Washington. He looks exactly like the kind of stable veteran whom the Memphis Grizzlies relied on the last four years. Trading Jones would only help the Wizards’ tanking efforts as well.”

Ball has undergone three surgeries on his left knee. The former Los Angeles Lakers guard hasn’t played in a game since January 14, 2022. Ball won’t play this season after undergoing a cartilage transplant in his left knee in March.

The Bulls could start Tyus Jones, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, Torrey Craig and Nikola Vucevic if Chicago’s front office figured out a way to acquire Jones and Gallinari from Washington. Jones is the ideal point guard to set up LaVine, DeRozan and Vucevic, as he has career averages of 4.0 assists and only 0.8 turnovers.

Jones is averaging 13.7 points and 6.7 assists for the Wizards this season, while Gallinari is putting up 8.0 points per game.
