Caitlin Clark orchestrated a spectacular performance on Monday night in Albany, propelling the Iowa women’s basketball team to a 94-87 triumph over LSU in the Elite Eight. This victory not only avenged the Hawkeyes’ heartbreaking loss to the Tigers in the 2023 national championship game but also secured their return to the Final Four for the second consecutive year.

Nearly a year after suffering defeat to LSU in the NCAA tournament national final, Clark dominated the court, tallying a game-high 41 points and 12 assists while sinking nine three-pointers, surpassing the entire three-point count of the LSU team.

Following the game, Clark took to Twitter to express her elation, confidently guaranteeing her team’s return to the Final Four.

“CLEVELAND!!!!!!!!!! FINAL FOUR!!!!! HAWK FANS LETS GOOOOOO.”

Clark’s tenure at Iowa has been nothing short of historic. As a senior, she leads the nation in multiple statistical categories, including points, assists, field goals made and attempted, as well as three-pointers made and attempted.

Her record-breaking season reached its pinnacle on February 15 when she surpassed Kelsey Plum as the NCAA Division I all-time women’s basketball scoring leader. Clark’s scoring prowess continued to soar, eclipsing the milestone set by Lynette Woodard just weeks later.

In addition to her individual achievements, Clark has been instrumental in guiding the Iowa women’s basketball team to success. Motivated by last season’s bitter defeat, the Hawkeyes embarked on a mission to improve, clinching 18 victories in their first 19 games.

Despite facing challenges along the way, including close losses and setbacks, Iowa maintained a top-six ranking in the Associated Press poll throughout the season. The team’s resilience was evident as they secured their third consecutive conference tournament title, culminating in a thrilling overtime victory against Nebraska.

Their journey through the NCAA tournament showcased Clark’s leadership and tenacity. Despite facing tough competition, including a nail-biting encounter with West Virginia, Clark and the Hawkeyes persevered, securing victories over Holy Cross and Colorado en route to a highly-anticipated rematch with LSU.

Now, as they prepare to face UConn in the Final Four, led by standout Paige Bueckers, Caitlin Clark and the Iowa women’s basketball team are poised to continue their quest for glory on the national stage.
