The Miami Heat didn’t believe Bradley Beal was “$30 million better” than Tyler Herro during trade conversations with the Washington Wizards this offseason, according to NBA insider Zach Lowe of ESPN.

“I think that was a vote of confidence in Tyler Herro. From what I heard, the Heat looked at that situation and said, ‘We don’t think Bradley Beal, who’s seven years older than Tyler Herro, is $30 million dollars better than Tyler Herro going forward,” Lowe said on his podcast.

Beal requested a trade from the Wizards and was open to waiving his no-trade clause to play for the Heat. However, Washington wound up trading Beal to the Phoenix Suns.

Beal signed a five-year, $251 million contract in 2022. The deal includes a $57 million player option for the 2026-27 season. Meanwhile, Herro is entering the first year of a four-year, $130 million rookie-scale extension that he signed with the Heat in 2022.

The Heat didn’t acquire Beal, Damian Lillard or Jrue Holiday this offseason. Lillard wanted the Portland Trail Blazers to trade him to the Heat, but Portland sent Dame to the Milwaukee Bucks. Meanwhile, the Bucks traded Holiday to the Blazers, who rerouted the All-NBA defender to the Boston Celtics.

Some people around the NBA believe the Heat should trade for James Harden, who has requested a trade from the Philadelphia 76ers, so Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo get someone to help them win a title. However, sources told NBA Analysis Network that Miami has not shown major interest in trading for Harden.
