One NBA writer is proposing that the Minnesota Timberwolves acquire Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat in a blockbuster deal. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Heat and Timberwolves:
Miami Heat receive: Karl-Anthony Towns
Minnesota Timberwolves receive: Tyler Herro, Caleb Martin, Nikola Jović and a future first-round pick
“Herro would immediately become a building block and quite possibly scratch its itch for a long-term playmaker,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Martin is young enough to keep (28) or good enough to flip for at least a decent return. Tack on two future wild cards in Jović and a first-rounder, and that could be enough for Minnesota to bite.”
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Tyler Herro, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves Updates
Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Heat last season in 67 games. He shot 43.9% from the field, 37.8% from beyond the arc and 93.4% from the free-throw line.
The Heat tried to acquire Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers and were shopping Herro all offseason. Miami wound up not acquiring Lillard, who was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks, but Herro admitted it was tough being in trade rumors.
“There was a little bit of frustration,” Herro said Monday during media day in his first comments to the media since last season. “But at the end of the day, it’s a business. I understand that. I would just like some clarity. I feel like I’ve gained enough respect around here to know what’s going on a little bit, whether my name is involved or not. That’s really it. I want to be involved. I feel like I gained the respect and I put the work in.”
