One NBA writer is proposing that the Indiana Pacers acquire Tyler Herro from the Miami Heat and Ish Wainright from the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster proposal. Eddie Bitar of Fadeaway World proposed the following trade idea between the Pacers, Heat, Suns and Portland Trail Blazers:
Portland Trail Blazers Receive: Deandre Ayton, Kyle Lowry, Nikola Jovic, 2024 First-Round Pick Pacers (Thunder, Clippers, Rockets or Jazz), 2027 Heat First-Round Pick, 2028 Heat First-Round Pick
Indiana Pacers Receive: Tyler Herro, Ish Wainright
Phoenix Suns Receive: Jusuf Nurkic, Caleb Martin, T.J. McConnell
Miami Heat Receive: Damian Lillard, Buddy Hield
“Even as we enter the 2024 season, Herro is a young and talented shooting guard known for his scoring ability and three-point shooting,” Bitar wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “Acquiring him gives the Pacers a promising young player who can contribute both offensively and as a perimeter threat. He can potentially become a cornerstone of the team’s future alongside All-Star Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton averaged 20.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, and 10.4 assists per game on 49.0% from the field, 40.0% from three, and 87.1% from the free-throw line.
NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Tyler Herro, Ish Wainright, Indiana Pacers, Miami Heat, Phoenix Suns Updates
“A duo of Haliburton and Herro will be an All-Star duo for the foreseeable future as they bring scoring, playmaking, shooting, and clutch ability. They will also get even better with time, especially under head coach Rick Carlisle who is a coach renowned for getting the best out of his players. The Pacers are shopping Buddy Hield, and if they can get Tyler Herro in return, this is a major win for them.”
Herro has removed “Miami Heat guard” from his “X” bio. The Kentucky product averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season while shooting 43.9% from the field, 37.8% from beyond the arc and 93.4% from the free-throw line. He was third on the team in points per game, trailing only Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo.
The 23-year-old Herro signed a four-year, $120 million rookie contract extension with the Heat in October 2022. The Milwaukee native has career NBA averages of 17.7 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 242 games with Miami. Herro broke his hand in the first round of the 2023 playoffs versus the Milwaukee Bucks and never came back.

As for Wainright, he averaged 4.2 points and 2.3 rebounds for the Suns last season while shooting 37.0% overall, 32.9% from 3 and 83.9% from the foul line. He played in 60 games.
