One NBA writer is proposing that the New York Knicks and Detroit Pistons make a blockbuster trade featuring Bojan Bogdanovic and Evan Fournier. Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed the following trade idea between the Pistons and Knicks:

Trade idea: New York Knicks trade Evan Fournier and 2024 first-round pick (top-18 protected, via DET) to Detroit Pistons for Bojan Bogdanovic

“Bogdanovic looms as a logical target for a few reasons,” Buckley wrote in his latest NBA trade column. “First off, he’d add extra oomph to this offense by addressing its need for more shooting and supplying solid complementary levels of scoring and playmaking. Second, he should be a cost-effective target, since he clearly doesn’t fit the Detroit Pistons’ timeline. If all it took was returning Detroit’s upcoming first-rounder and Fournier as salary-filler, it’d be a no-brainer for the ‘Bockers.”

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Evan Fournier, Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks Updates

Bogdanovic is one of the top shooters in the NBA. The veteran swingman averaged 21.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists last season for the Pistons while shooting 48.8% from the field, 41.1% from beyond the arc and 88.4% from the free-throw line.

In October 2022, Bogdanovic signed a two-year, $39 million extension with the Pistons. He will have made over $142 million in his NBA career once his current contract ends. Detroit can always start next season with Bogdanovic on the roster and move him before or at the 2024 trade deadline.

There could be a desperate playoff team in need of shooting who will give the Pistons what they want for Bogdanovic. The going price multiple teams have found from the Pistons for Bogdanovic right now is one first and multiple seconds, which is too steep for any suitor so far, according to NBA insider Matt Moore of The Action Network.

NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Evan Fournier, Bojan Bogdanovic, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks Updates

Fournier will make $18.9 million next season. He signed a four-year, $73 million contract with New York in August 2021 as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Boston Celtics. Fournier only appeared in 27 games last season. He was removed from the rotation by head coach Tom Thibodeau.

After the Knicks lost to the Miami Heat in the 2023 Eastern Conference Semifinals in six games, Fournier told NBA reporters he expected to get traded this offseason.
