An anonymous member of the Phoenix Suns acknowledged to NBA writer Keith Smith of Spotrac that there is some overlap between Bradley Beal and Devin Booker since both stars are shooting guards. However, the Suns aren’t worried about the Beal-Booker fit.
“Brad is going to be a terrific addition to our team,” the anonymous member of the Suns said. “Is there overlap with Devin Booker? Sure. But show me the coach that says they have too much playmaking and scoring and I’ll show the first coach to ever say that. We think he might have his most efficient season ever too, because he’s not going to have to create so much for himself.”
The Suns traded Chris Paul and Landry Shamet to the Washington Wizards for Beal, who waived his no-trade clause to play with Booker and Kevin Durant. Phoenix now has a Big 4 of Durant, Booker, Beal and Deandre Ayton.
Beal averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists last season while shooting 50.6% from the field, 36.5% from beyond the arc and 84.2% from the free-throw line. Meanwhile, Booker put up 27.8 points, 4.5 boards and 5.5 assists per game while shooting 49.4% overall, 35.1% from 3 and 85.5% from the free-throw line.
