Wizards’ Jordan Poole Makes First Comments On Warriors’ Trade

Jordan Poole, Golden State Warriors, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Golden State Warriors and Washington Wizards came together on a massive trade that sent talented guard Jordan Poole out of town this NBA offseason. It was a move for Poole that was expected, especially after all the heat he took for a rough end to the team’s playoff run. Poole will now have a fresh start and arguably be the best offensive option for his new team.

When the Poole trade went down, it took fans by surprise. New Warriors’ general manager Mike Dunleavy had stated that he expected Poole to be a part of Golden State’s roster for years to come. Clearly, that isn’t what happened, but it happened fast after the comments.

Since the trade, Poole had been keeping his thoughts to himself. Finally, he has spoken out about the trade for the first time and made some intriguing remarks.

NBA RUMORS & NEWS: Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, & Jordan Poole Updates

Arguably the most intriguing comment was that he was “prepared” to be traded by the Warriors.

Poole will be a big part of the new era of basketball for the Wizards. Washington also traded superstar shooting guard Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns this offseason. They will be a completely new-look team during the upcoming 2023-24 NBA season.

As for the Warriors, they are moving forward with Chris Paul joining the roster. It’s clear that Dunleavy and the Golden State front office are looking to go all-in to compete now. Trading Poole was not an easy decision, but they feel very good about the position they put themselves in with the move.

During the 2022-23 NBA season, Poole ended up averaging 20.4 points per game to go along with 4.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds. He also shot 43 percent from the floor and knocked down 33.6 percent of his three-point attempts. Those shooting percentages certainly need to rise, but they aren’t bad.

NBA RUMORS & NEWS: Washington Wizards, Golden State Warriors, & Jordan Poole Updates

The Wizards have to feel good about the young core they are putting together. Jordan Poole will join Kyle Kuzma, who re-signed to a big contract in free agency, as the main leaders for Washington. It will be an interesting team, but one that has a lot of talent to unlock.

Expect to see Poole put together a breakout season with a much larger role in Washington. The Warriors were a great fit for Poole early in his career, but he needs more opportunity. That is exactly what he will get with the Wizards.
