An anonymous member of the Chicago Bulls told NBA writer Keith Smith of Spotrac that the franchise is “still very high” on Ayo Dosunmu, who is currently a restricted free agent. As a restricted free agent, Dosunmu can sign an offer sheet with another team and then the Bulls would have 48 hours to match the offer sheet.
“We’re still very high on Ayo,” the anonymous member of the Bulls said. “This is how restricted free agency can go sometimes. Don’t read anything into our opinion of him as a player just because he isn’t signed.”
Dosunmu appeared in 80 games for the Bulls last season. He averaged 8.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists while shooting 49.3% from the field, 31.2% from beyond the arc and 80.5% from the free-throw line.
According to Jason and Dan Bernstein of the Organizations Win Championships podcast, Dosunmu is unlikely to be back with the Bulls next season. Dosunmu could land with the Toronto Raptors, who lost Fred VanVleet to the Houston Rockets in free agency. Although they signed Dennis Schroder, Toronto could sign another guard for depth purposes.
