New York Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson left Game 2 of their second-round NBA playoff series against the Indiana Pacers with approximately four minutes remaining in the first quarter due to a sore right foot. His return to the game is uncertain.

The exact moment of the injury is unclear, but Brunson appeared to take a knee-to-knee hit or a groin shot in the first quarter.

Despite this, seemingly in pain, he continued playing for a few minutes, with his heavily taped hand causing concern. With 3:30 minutes left in the quarter, visibly struggling Brunson signaled to be taken out of the game as Josh Hart committed a transition take foul.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Jalen Brunson, New York Knicks, Indiana Pacers Updates

Brunson is not only the Knicks’ top player but also one of the standout performers in the postseason. He entered Wednesday’s game as the leading scorer in the playoffs with 256 points despite playing fewer games than others. He ranks fourth in postseason assists with 60 and was announced earlier on Wednesday as the fifth-place finisher for this season’s MVP award.

Brunson’s presence is crucial to the Knicks, especially considering the team’s current injury woes. With Julius Randle, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Mitchell Robinson sidelined due to injuries in the postseason, the Knicks have relied heavily on a seven-player rotation, with Brunson being the sole consistent half-court creator.

At Brunson’s exit, the Knicks led by seven points. However, the Pacers took control of the game, leading by double digits before halftime. If Brunson cannot perform at his usual elite level, the already-depleted Knicks may struggle to win this game or the series.
