One NBA writer is proposing that the New York Knicks acquire OG Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors in a massive trade. Our own James Piercey of NBA Analysis Network proposed that the Knicks trade RJ Barrett and two future first-round picks to the Raptors for Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr.
New York could start Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, Anunoby, Julius Randle and Mitchell Robinson if this trade went through. The Knicks are one of the many teams interested in trading for Anunoby. However, the Raptors are not interested in trading the forward, according to Michael Grange of SportsNet.
Anunoby signed a four-year, $72 million rookie contract extension with Toronto in December 2020. He has career averages of 11.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.5 assists. The Indiana product won the 2019 championship with the Raptors over the Golden State Warriors in six games.
Toronto drafted Anunoby with the 23rd overall pick in the 2017 draft. Anunoby is open to staying with the Raptors if he’s able to obtain a more significant role in the offense moving forward, according to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports.
