The 2023 NBA offseason has seen a lot of change for the Golden State Warriors from the front office down to the roster. The biggest change was general manager Bob Myers stepping down and being replaced by Mike Dunleavy.

Dunleavy has some big shoes to fill taking over for the architect of the best basketball dynasty we have seen in a long time. The Warriors won four championships in nine seasons with Myers at the helm and were contenders all but two seasons.

One of the first moves that Dunleavy made was a shocking one as he unloaded the money left on Jordan Poole’s contract, needing to include Patrick Baldwin Ryan Rollins, to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul. No. 19 pick Brandin Podziemski and No. 57 overall pick Trayce Jackson-Davis will replace them as young guys on the bench.

Draymond Green re-signed with the Warriors, but Donte DiVincenzo departed in free agency, signing a four-year, $50 million deal with the New York Knicks. Dario Saric and Cory Joseph were both signed as well to add more depth.

To keep pace with the rest of the league, the Warriors very well may not be done making moves. If they want to make a major splash, Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report believes they could target someone such as Pascal Siakam of the Toronto Raptors.

Figuring out what the Raptors are doing is a mere impossibility as it doesn’t even seem like their front office knows what to do. Head coach Nick Nurse was fired and Fred VanVleet left in free agency, but they signed Jakob Poeltl to a massive extension.

In transition, Buckley suggested that the Raptors trade Siakam to the Warriors in exchange for Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody, Chris Paul and a 2030 first-round pick. That is a deal the Raptors may not even answer the phone for in exchange for Siakam, but they eventually have to learn their lesson.

After turning down deals at the deadline a few years ago for Lowry and doing it again with VanVleet this year, they have to recoup some sort of assets for Siakam, who is entering the final season of his contract. Kuminga and Moody are good young pieces on rookie deals that could blossom with extended playing time. Paul could fetch another asset or two in a trade or he will be bought out.

For the Warriors, they would have an even more dangerous death lineup by adding Siakam. He could be in the frontcourt with Green and Andrew Wiggins with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson in the backcourt; good luck stopping that group on offense.

Siakam has proven capable of carrying a team for stretches, providing the Warriors with a go-to option to help take pressure off of Curry. He would be an excellent addition to this team as another player that can create for himself or others in the halfcourt. He has championship experience, so you know he won’t wilt under the bright lights of the NBA playoffs.
