Just look at the Cavaliers. This team has followed the rebuilding blueprint to a tee. First, they drafted a large percentage of their core. Darius Garland was their first building block, but in all likelihood, Evan Mobley will be their most significant one.
In the meantime, they built around those pieces. Allen was their first major acquisition. Of course, Donovan Mitchell was the most significant player they’ve acquired.

The Cavaliers have acquired a lot of talent. Still, something feels a little off here. Their backcourt is too small, and their frontcourt is too slow. This team may want to make some modifications in time. Is this the right one?
Why The Cleveland Cavaliers Do The Deal
We think so. This deal solves several problems that the Cavaliers have. This team has needed a wing for ages. Avdija could be the solution. He’s a versatile defender who impacts the game offensively with strong connective passing.
Meanwhile, Wright is the big guard this rotation needs. He’ll allow the Cavs to stagger Garland and Mitchell to some extent. He’s a solid addition to this rotation as well.

In all likelihood, this deal comes down to that first-round pick. The Cavaliers may want to haggle for less protections. Assuming this pick rolls into future seasons to eventually convey, the Cavaliers should like this deal. Should the Wizards?
Why The Washington Wizards Do The Deal
This would be a bold move for Washington. Some would say that it’s too bold. After all, this team is rebuilding. They also have the younger Daniel Gafford to play the 5. What are the Wizards doing?
Well, Allen isn’t exactly nearing retirement. He’s still young enough to be part of a rebuild. Allen is also a more impactful player than Gafford.

Could he lead Washington to a few extra wins this season? It’s possible. Still, if the Wizards prefer to prioritize culture and competitiveness over lottery odds, they might not mind. After all, every rebuild is different.
