Jazz Trade For Heat’s Tyler Herro In Proposal

Tyler Herro, Utah Jazz, Miami Heat, NBA Trade Rumors

They say you should be careful what you wish for. Do you believe in manifestation? It can certainly feel like a part of reality at times. You may wish for something so long, and finally get it. Sometimes, it’s not exactly what you hoped it would be. The same holds true in the NBA.

For example, the Miami Heat are obviously hoping to trade for Damian Lillard. Moreover, theyre obviously willing to include Tyler Herro in a trade to make it happen.

What if they can’t land Lillard? Could Herro take issue with the fact that he was made available? What if they’re forced to trade him anyway? Could they send him to the Utah Jazz?

The Trade Proposal

Miami Heat Receive: G Collin Sexton, F/C Kelly Olynyk, 2025 First-Round Pick (MIN via UTA)
Utah Jazz Receive: G Tyler Herro

Meanwhile, nobody needs to tell the Jazz about NBA trade requests. They are familiar. It wasn’t long ago that this team had two star players. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert were the foundation of this team. Last summer, the Jazz traded them both.

Neither made a public trade request, either. Still, Mitchell’s desire to play elsewhere was the worst-kept secret in the NBA. Moreover, if the Jazz were trading him, they might as well trade the older Gobert as well.

Now, Utah has a whole new look. This is a deep team with plenty of assets. With that said, they don’t own their own pick in 2024. The Jazz have every incentive to improve next season. Does this deal improve them?

Why The Utah Jazz Do The Deal

We think so. The Jazz could use a guard who can create in the half-court. Ideally, Sexton would have been that guy for them last season. For whatever reason, head coach Will Hardy didn’t seem to trust him with a major role. Perhaps he was still recovering from his injury.

Of course, Herro will be recovering too. Still, the last time that we saw him, he was a dangerous scoring guard. This is the type of player that the Jazz need.

Olynyk may not be. Walker Kessler is entrenched as the starting center. Lauri Markkanen is the best player on the team, and the Jazz just acquired John Collins. With so much frontcourt depth, it makes sense to include Olynyk in a package for a strong offensive guard. Should the Heat part with their young scorer?

Why The Miami Heat Do The Deal

Meanwhile, the Heat may feel that they don’t need Herro. They made an entire run to the NBA Finals with him on the sidelines. With that in mind, this team could use some depth. That holds especially true in the frontcourt.

In the NBA Finals, Miami was often left choosing between the slow Kevin Love or the small Caleb Martin at the 4. Reuniting with Olynyk helps solve that dilemma. He’s got more defensive value than Love, and he maintains floor spacing at the position. This is a good piece for the Heat to add.

Sexton could be as well. If he returns to form, this could be a steal for Miami. Throw in an unprotected first-rounder, and who knows? The Heat could be glad to get what they wished for after all.
