As expected, Phoenix Suns All-Star Devin Booker is excited about playing with Bradley Beal. Even though Booker and Beal are both shooting guards, the former is looking forward to sharing the court with the latter next NBA season.

The Suns acquired Beal from the Washington Wizards in a blockbuster trade. Phoenix now has a lethal Big 3 of Booker, Beal and Kevin Durant. The team also has Deandre Ayton and Eric Gordon.

Beal averaged 23.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists for the Wizards last season while shooting 50.6% from the field, 36.5% from beyond the arc and 84.2% from the free-throw line. The three-time All-Star waived his no-trade clause to play with Booker and Durant.

Booker, who didn’t speak to the media after the Suns were eliminated from the 2023 playoffs by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals in six games, averaged 27.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists last season. The 26-year-old is going to be more or less the primary ball handler for the Suns next season, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.

“The Suns are going to light it up like Times Square on New Year’s Eve with Durant, Booker and Beal,” Scotto said. “I don’t know if there are enough basketballs to go around, but my understanding is Booker is going to be more or less the primary ball handler a lot of times. Beal can handle the ball too, and create in pick-and-rolls, but it seems like this is more of an avenue to get the ball in Booker’s hands and really maximize his usage rate.”

It’s going to be fascinating to see how many games the Suns win next season under first-year head coach Frank Vogel, who replaced Monty Williams. Vogel guided the Los Angeles Lakers to the 2020 championship at the Walt Disney World bubble in Orlando, Florida.
