Small forward Cam Reddish is signing with the Los Angeles Lakers on a two-year, $4.6 million contract, according to multiple NBA reports.

The Portland Trail Blazers acquired Reddish from the New York Knicks at the 2023 trade deadline. The Duke product averaged 11.0 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 20 games with Portland while shooting 44.3% from the field, 31.8% from beyond the arc and 83.3% from the free-throw line.

The Atlanta Hawks drafted Reddish with the 10th overall pick in the 2019 draft. The Norristown native hasn’t been able to stick with a team, as he’s played for the Hawks, Knicks and Blazers. Reddish has career averages of 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 173 NBA games.

The Lakers, who lost to the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Western Conference Finals in four games, had a busy first day of free agency. Along with signing Reddish, Los Angeles added Taurean Prince and Gabe Vincent and re-signed Rui Hachimura, who was a restricted free agent.

Now all the Lakers have to do is re-sign Austin Reaves, who is a restricted free agent. All signs point toward that happening. Los Angeles also has to decide if it wants to bring D’Angelo Russell back. D’Lo is an unrestricted free agent.

The Lakers lost two players on the first day of free agency, as Troy Brown Jr. went to the Minnesota Timberwolves and Dennis Schroder signed with the Toronto Raptors, who lost Fred VanVleet to the Houston Rockets.

The Lakers wanted to sign Bruce Brown, but the NBA champion went to the Indiana Pacers. With superstars Anthony Davis and LeBron James leading the way next season, the Lakers should be able to contend for a title as long as AD and LeBron stay healthy.
