The Los Angeles Clippers have made veteran guard Eric Gordon an unrestricted free agent, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
The Clippers aren’t guaranteeing Gordon’s $21 million salary for next season, so the Indiana product will enter free agency on June 30. Gordon signed a four-year, $75.6 million veteran contract extension with the Houston Rockets in September 2019.
The Clippers acquired Gordon from the Rockets at the 2023 trade deadline. The former Sixth Man of the Year averaged 11.0 points, 1.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 22 games with Los Angeles while shooting 46.3% from the field, 42.3% from beyond the arc and 84.2% from the free-throw line.
LAC lost to the Phoenix Suns in the first round of the 2023 playoffs in five games. Gordon averaged 10.2 points in the series. Two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard only played in Games 1 and 2 due to a torn meniscus in his right knee and All-Star small forward Paul George missed the entire series with his own knee injury.

Gordon has career averages of 16.0 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.8 assists with the Clippers, New Orleans Pelicans and Rockets. He turns 35 on December 25, 2023. It will be fascinating to see where the Indianapolis native is playing next season.
The Clippers have never reached the NBA Finals in franchise history. Leonard and George are two of the best players in the game right now, but neither star has been able to stay healthy since coming to the Clippers in the summer of 2019.
