The Indiana Pacers could offer shooting guard Max Strus a three-year, $48 million contract once free agency starts on June 30, according to NBA insider Marc Stein.

Strus, who is an undrafted player, becomes an unrestricted free agent on June 30.

“Sources tell The Stein Line that the Indiana Pacers, who are projected to have more than $30 million in salary cap space, are strongly weighing a three-year offer for Strus in the $48 million range,” Stein wrote.

Strus has also been linked to the Indiana Pacers, Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons, according to NBA insider Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports. He averaged 11.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists for the Heat this past season while shooting 41.0% from the field, 35.0% from beyond the arc and 87.6% from the free-throw line.

The Illinois native made 197 3-pointers, which ranked 21st in the NBA. Strus will have made over $3.9 million in his career once free agency starts. He has career averages of 10.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists with the Chicago Bulls and Heat.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Max Strus, Miami Heat & Indiana Pacers Updates

Even though Strus helped Miami reach the 2023 NBA Finals and is one of the best shooters in the NBA, it appears the guard will be playing for a new team next season. Miami is hoping superstar point guard Damian Lillard requests a trade from the Portland Trail Blazers so Hall of Famer Pat Riley can try to acquire him.

Lillard and Heat All-Star center Bam Adebayo are very close friends and Dame has serious interest in playing for Miami, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

NBA NEWS & RUMORS: Max Strus, Miami Heat & Indiana Pacers Updates

Once the Pacers sign All-Star point guard Tyrese Haliburton to a rookie-scale extension this summer, expect the front office to be aggressive in his attempts to improve the wing position. It will certainly be interesting to see if Strus leaves the Heat for the Pacers, who play in a small market, Indiana.
