If you’re still worried about positional fit in the NBA, you need to get with the times. You’re living in the past. At this point, you might as well be reading this article by candlelight. Of course, you’re still on the internet, so…

Anyway. Positions don’t matter anymore. What matters are skillsets. NBA teams need to put together rosters with players whose abilities complement each other. Nobody wants overlapping weaknesses.

With that in mind, the Minnesota Timberwolves thought Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert would make a good duo. In 2022-23, that didn’t appear to be the case. Now, folks are wondering if the Wolves might move on from Towns.

Towns is coming off an injury-plagued season averaging 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 29 games. He is set to earn $36 million before beginning a staggering four-year, $234.6 million contract in 2024-25. It may be best to move on to balance out the roster.
