Why The Portland Trail Blazers Do The Deal 

Listen. It’s not what we’d do. That doesn’t mean it’s indefensible. 

In all fairness, Damian Lillard was one of the best offensive players in the NBA next season. He got injured, and Portland didn’t have the supporting cast to make up for his loss. That’s why they have this pick in the first place. 

What if they had Paul George? This would be one of the best duos in the NBA. The Blazers would have a very competitive team if they made this deal. 

If they retain Jerami Grant in free agency, that holds even more true. The Blazers could trade Shaedon Sharpe as well.

If they really wanted to, Portland could build a contender ahead of next season – and that could start with acquiring George.
