This may seem counterintuitive. Didn’t Jakob Poeltl say he doesn’t want to be part of a rebuild? 

Sure. At the same time, there’s a difference here. The Raptors would be beginning their rebuilding cycle. The Rockets are hoping to bring theirs to an end next season. 

Acquiring a player like Poeltl would be a great start. Yes, Alperen Sengun has star upside, but he doesn’t offer much on the defensive end of the floor. 

Poeltl would give the Rockets a new dimension of rim protection.
