A win can come at a cost, especially for an NBA team that seeks to contend for a championship on a shortened timeline.

You’ve still got to take it. After all, a win is a win. Still, even a win can end up feeling like a loss down the line. 

For example, the Los Angeles Lakers won the 2019-20 NBA championship. Any decision they made to get there is justified by that outcome. Still, they lost a lot in the process. 

In particular, the Lakers gave up a lot of quality young players to acquire Anthony Davis. They may miss some of them.

For example, Kyle Kuzma of the Washington Wizards has really blossomed into a strong player since leaving the Lakers.
