It may not see them getting the return that their fans would want. Unfortunately for the Wizards, this would be a sign-and-trade deal. Typically, teams can’t get market value for players in this situation. 

With that in mind, a lottery-protected pick is the most they can expect from the Lakers.

If they’re not willing to play ball, and Kuzma wants to reunite with his old team, the Lakers can likely find a means to acquire him through free agency.

This is better than nothing. Meanwhile, taking a flier on the young Bamba makes sense for the Wizards. If he hits his ceiling, they’ll be glad they made this deal.
