In the NBA, it’s often said that defense wins championships. Every title contender doesn’t necessarily subscribe to that philosophy.
In the modern league, it may not even be true. With so many elite offenses around the NBA, you need to be able to score to be able to win. Sometimes, that isn’t even enough.
Just look at the Sacramento Kings. This team had the best offense in the NBA in 2022-23. Somehow, they lost in the first round of the playoffs anyway.
At least they fared better than the Dallas Mavericks. On paper, this should have been one of the best offenses in the NBA.
In practice, the Mavericks couldn’t score enough to even make the postseason.
Could they trade for Harrison Barnes of the Kings to help?
