NBA Trades — Houston Rockets
Houston Rockets Receive: 2023 First-Round Pick (No, 17 – LAL)
Los Angeles Lakers Receive: 2023 First-Round Pick (No. 20 – LAC via HOU), 2024 Second-Round Pick (OKC via HOU), 2024 Second-Round Pick (BKN via HOU)
The focus is always on first-round picks. Don’t underestimate the value of second-rounders, either.
The Los Angeles Lakers certainly shouldn’t. This team used second-round picks to grease the wheels on a couple of good trades at this year’s deadline.
Here, they’re landing two more to potentially do the same with this season.
On the other hand, the Houston Rockets have too many second-round picks in next year’s draft. They will almost certainly burn some of them. Why not use them to move up a few spots in this draft instead?
In all likelihood, Houston would have their eye on Jett Howard here. It’s been reported that they’re looking for shooting in the draft, and Howard is a lifelong Rockets fan.

If he’s on the board at 17, look for Houston to give the Lakers a call.
Assuming they still have this pick, that is.
