Los Angeles Lakers Receive: F/C P.J. Washington, 2023 First-Round Pick (No. 27 – DEN via CHA) 

Here, the Charlotte Hornets’ logic is similar. They’re moving up an impressive ten spots in the draft – surely, they’ve got someone in mind. 

Of course, they’re giving up Washington in the process. That’s fine. He’s a restricted free agent anyway. This deal only happens if the Hornets know that he intends on leaving. 

In that event, this makes sense on their end. It makes sense for the Lakers too.

They’re landing a versatile forward who can defend multiple positions and space the floor.

With that said, they’re also paying him. The Lakers may not be interested in complicating their books. If that’s the case, they may pass on this deal. 

Perhaps this next one would be more intriguing to them.
