Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal 

Well, that’s not all the Raptors are getting here. They’re also getting Cam Thomas. 

This is a good young player. Thomas has shown the ability to create his own shots in half-court sets. if the Raptors are rebuilding, they could be interested in the young guard. 

Meanwhile, Finney-Smith provides a bridge as well. He’s not nearly as impactful as Anunoby, but he does provide a similar skill set.

If the Raptors want to retool without plunging to the bottom of the standings, Finney-Smith would help that cause.

Still, the meat of this trade is the draft capital. The Raptors are receiving three unprotected first-round picks here. If the league’s market adjusts, that will be a good return for Anunoby.
