Every team in the NBA needs to manage its cap space. With that said, some have different needs from others.
Some teams need space. They may be approaching the second apron of the luxury tax. If they’ve got a bad contract on the books, they’ll work relentlessly to shed it.
Other teams have space. They may be open to taking on that bad contract. Of course, they’ll have to be incentivized to do so.
Take the Houston Rockets. This team enters the summer with the most cap space in the NBA.
If they wanted to, the Rockets could take on a bad contract with sweeteners.
Like, for example, Ben Simmons of the Brooklyn Nets.
