Why The Los Angeles Lakers Do The Deal 

In Orlando, Suggs is fighting for his role. He’s in perpetual competition with Markelle Fultz and Cole Anthony for the starting point guard position. 

That wouldn’t be the case for the Lakers. if they acquired Suggs, they’d be doing so to give him a clear role. Suggs would be this team’s sixth man. 

That could be an optimal role. Suggs struggles to score in the half-court, but he’s got the type of playmaking that should allow him to pilot a second unit. He’s also a great defender. 

Finally, Bol Bol isn’t merely a throw-in here. The Lakers will benefit from his frontcourt spacing and playmaking. Regardless, the main secondary piece here is Gary Harris. His 3-and-D skill-set would help just about any contender.
