Of course, there’s a reason we love an underdog. Usually, they end up losing. It isn’t easy to defy the odds. If it was, those wouldn’t be the odds. That’s the nature of competition. 

With that in mind, the Chicago Bulls were underdogs of sorts this season. They were expected to make the playoffs, but making a deep run would have required an uphill battle. 

The Bulls didn’t put themselves in a position to fight it. They didn’t even make the playoffs. In this case, the underdog did what it usually does. They lost. 

While the Bulls not having their own first-round pick in this year’s NBA Draft eliminated the value in undergoing a rebuild this season, they could benefit from doing so beginning this offseason.

Tyler Herro could fill a large role and show what he’s capable of achieving in such a situation with the Bulls. If it works out well, perhaps Chicago could move him for more assets in a separate trade, or decide to build around him.
