Toronto Raptors Receive: G/F Kevin Porter Jr., C Alperen Sengun, 2024 First-Round Pick (BKN via HOU), 2026 First-Round Pick (BKN via HOU)
Atlanta Hawks Receive: F OG Anunoby, G/F Gary Trent Jr., 2023 First-Round Pick (HOU)
Houston Rockets Receive: G Trae Young
Let it be said that this trade would depend on the draft lottery results. The Rockets will not be trading Victor Wembanyama for Trae Young. That much is obvious. Realistically, Houston wouldn’t trade him for much of anything.
Moreover, they shouldn’t even trade the second pick in the draft for Young. The Rockets would be better off simply selecting Scoot Henderson. He’ll be on a rookie contract and has the potential to be better than Young.
With that said, anything is possible if the Rockets pick lands outside of the top 2. If you’ve been reading the tea leaves around this team, it’s apparent that they’re looking to take a step forward next season.
That’s why there have been rumors about interest in James Harden returning to Houston. It’s clear that ownership wants to be competitive after being stuck toward the bottom of the NBA after being among the league’s top teams.

Trading for a star like Young would be an option for the Rockets to establish more of a clear identity with their team without having to bring in an aging superstar. It would be a great consolation to missing out on a top two pick.
Could adding Young help them do so?
