One of the chief criticisms of Young is his poor defensive effort. That can impact team culture – and on-court performance. 

With that in mind, the Heat are well-built to mitigate his poor defense. Bam Adebayo is one of the most versatile defenders in the NBA, and few players lock down the perimeter like Jimmy Butler. 

Meanwhile, the Heat could really use Young’s playmaking. He may be a flawed player, but make no mistake – Young is one of the most dynamic offensive talents in the National Basketball Association. 

All of which is to say that this is a risk for Miami. Still, the payoff could be tremendous.
