Why The Golden State Warriors Do The Deal 

It would be hard to classify the Warriors’ situation as bleak. This team is on the heels of a dynasty. 

With that said, it is somewhat problematic. The Warriors are not going to be able to afford to keep the team they currently have in place. Something is going to have to give financially. 

Meanwhile, Wiggins is on a long-term deal. This trade has them getting off of it. Bertans’ contract will expire twice as quickly. Green will be due for a new one, and he’s an exciting young player, but it’s not likely to approach Wiggins’ annual salary. 

Of course, Wiggins is too good to simply salary dump. That’s why the Warriors are landing two first-round picks here.
