Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

Frankly, it’s hard to know what the Nets should do. 

There are a lot of good players on this roster. The Nets may be a star away from getting back to contention.

They’ll be tempted to package Ben Simmons’ contract with Cam Thomas and as many first-round picks as necessary for a star this summer. 

Perhaps they will. At the same time, what if that’s not enough? If the Nets build that team, and they still don’t contend, they’ll be left without their draft capital for no reason.

It may be more rational to play the long game. That’s what the Nets are doing here. They’re landing a potential offensive focal point in Herro and a first-round pick in exchange for two 3-and-D wings.
