Why The New York Knicks Do The Deal
The Knicks do this deal to land the best player in the trade.
Let’s keep it simple. Both Robinson and Turner are strong rim protectors. They’re both good pick-and-roll finishers. Only one of them shoots threes. Who provides more value?
In fact, Turner’s floor spacing could really open up this offense. The Knicks have already been surprisingly competitive. Imagine what they could do with five-out spacing.
Meanwhile, they probably won’t mind parting with Toppin, either. He’s been buried behind Julius Randle in this team’s rotation for far too long, and that doesn’t look likely to change.

Randle is an elite playmaking 4: Apparently, that position has changed too.
