With that said, the Rockets wouldn’t acquire Johnson on those grounds alone. He’d also need to satisfy a need for the team. In this case, he absolutely does.
Johnson is one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA. The Rockets are the worst three-point shooting team in the NBA. It doesn’t take a statical genius to understand why this makes sense for Houston.
Meanwhile, the team may want a fresh start from Porter Jr., too. It’s been speculated that he’s posed some difficulties at times in their locker room.
