With that said, it doesn’t much matter to the Nets what happens to the Rockets. They’ve got their own incentive to succeed. 

Specifically, that incentive exists because the Rockets own their picks. While other teams can decide to bottom out and tank for lottery picks, that’s not an appealing option for the Nets. They’d only end up sending the Rockets more top prospects. 

At the same time, the Rockets will have enough of those following this summer. In fact, they’ll be losing their own incentive to lose.
