Why The Minnesota Timberwolves Do The Deal
The Wolves may have made another mistake in acquiring Gobert. After all, Karl-Anthony Towns is not the only player they need to be building around.
Meanwhile, their jumbo pairing in the front court forces them to play at a pace that doesn’t suit Anthony Edwards. If these problems don’t sort themselves out by season’s end, they may have to break that duo up.
Unfortunately, Gobert’s trade value has likely reached a low point. His league-wide perception has taken a hit in light of Minnesota’s poor performance this season. By contrast, Towns would still fetch a substantial return.
This would qualify. Bridges would be a fine second option behind Edwards. Meanwhile, a Gobert / Jaden McDaniels / Bridges frontcourt should be as defensively sound as any in the NBA.

Even if Edwards’ defense slips, this should be a winning team.
