With that said, players like Towns still hold tremendous value. 

After all, a player that you can build your offense around is a rare commodity. Even if they struggle on the defensive end, they’re worth having.

A team simply needs to build around its strengths and weaknesses. 

The Wolves tried to do that for Towns this summer. They acquired Rudy Gobert to compensate for his poor rim protection. Unfortunately, the two are a poor pair on the offensive end of the floor.

Perhaps you can’t use a good defensive big to cover for a poor one. It may be more effective to surround a poor defensive big with elite perimeter defenders.
