Why The Charlotte Hornets Do The Deal 

Firstly, the Hornets don’t do this deal unless Ball has eyes for greener pastures. 

If he’s content in Charlotte, they hold onto him. This team needs to make some changes, but barring some discontent in his camp, trading LaMelo Ball is not the type of change they need to make. 

Let’s assume Ball is unhappy in Charlotte. If that’s the case, the question is simple: is this enough in return for him? 

It is. Daniels has real star potential. He’s already a plus defender as a rookie, and he’s got similar distribution skills to Ball. Meanwhile, Jones is already an elite defender as a sophomore.

Throw in three first-round picks and a swap, and the Hornets should do this deal if they’re moving Ball anyway. With some draft luck, it could give them the best young core in the NBA.
