The Pelicans do this deal to get one of the best young point guards in the NBA. That isn’t complicated. 

Sure, it’ll impact their draft flexibility. For that matter, parting with Daniels and Jones will sting. They both have tremendous upside. 

On the other hand – they’re getting LaMelo Ball. He’s obviously more valuable than either. He may also be exactly what this team needs. 

After all, Zion Williamson and Brandon Ingram are both tremendously talented players. They aren’t natural-born distributors like Ball.
