After all, everyone’s got an opinion. They just don’t have access to the internal information teams use to make decisions. An NBA front office needs to put its trust in itself.
For example, everyone had a plan for the Los Angeles Lakers this season. Specifically, they were supposed to trade Russell Westbrook and a pair of first-round picks for a significant win-now package.
Instead, they traded one of those picks – with protections. Otherwise, the Lakers rounded out their roster by acquiring solid rotational players with second-round picks.
