Why The Brooklyn Nets Do The Deal 

This wouldn’t be an easy decision for the Nets to make. 

After all, this team owes their first-round picks, whether outright or via swap, to the Houston Rockets up to the 2027 draft. With that in mind, many have reasoned that the Nets can’t rebuild unless they make a trade with the Rockets. 

Are we sure about that? The Nets would have one of the best collections of young players and draft capital in the league following this deal. Following it, they could simply bide their time and make an aggressive offer on the next star to become available. 

If there are any reservations here, they’ll have to do with the overlap between Onkongwu and their current starting big man Nic Claxton. That’s fine.
