Why The New Orleans Pelicans Do The Deal
In making this deal, the Pelicans are taking a step closer to contending for the NBA title.
At the beginning of 2022-23, it appeared that they were already there. At this point, it is obvious that they are still a step behind. As of now, it does not appear that the Pelicans look like a team that has a chance to win the NBA title this season.
There will be some people who will say that this is not the way to get them there. For what it is worth, the Pelicans already possess a lot of offensive firepower for what it is worth. It can be argued that what they need are defensive stoppers if they are going to be successful.
That’s possible. It is also possible for the Pelicans to lean entirely into their current identity. Adding a shot creator like Poole might be the best solution if that appeals to them.
