The Golden State Warriors would provide a good blueprint if you were looking for a way to build an NBA champion based on their success. 

First of all, you need to make sure that you get the most value out of the draft. In that regard, the Warriors have certainly succeeded. There is no doubt that Steph Curry was a steal, and it’s even harder to believe that Draymond Green was selected in the second round of the draft. 

The next step is to make quality outside acquisitions. There has also been success for the Warriors in this area. There is no doubt that Kevin Durant was a coup for the team. Jordan Poole was also one of them. 

Having said that, it is likely that their run of championship contention is coming to an end in the near future. They may need to get creative with potential roster changes as they navigate massive luxury tax cost.
