There is no doubt that the Nets could have all of the draft capital in the world at their disposal. It will be difficult to justify a rebuild for as long as they do not have their own.
At the moment, the Houston Rockets have control of the draft through the year 2027. In the absence of dealing directly with the Rockets, any decision the Nets make will likely be driven by a win-now attitude.
There is no doubt that this deal does just that. By far and away, it appears that they are going to land the best player in this trade. There is actually a possibility that the Nets could be a contender next season if they acquired Lillard.
After all, the team has one of the best defensive rosters in the entire league. It is also beginning to look like Mikal Bridges might be one of the viable second options as well.
