The San Antonio Spurs are one of the worst teams in the NBA. It still feels odd to type that.
After all, this organization has made a habit of winning. From the late 90s into the mid-2010s, the Spurs were consistently in contention for the NBA championship.
In recent years, that’s changed. The Spurs are about to miss the playoffs for a fourth consecutive season. For a few years, they appeared to be stuck on the mediocrity treadmill.
That changed this summer. The Spurs traded Dejounte Murray to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for three first-round picks.
With that decision, they forced their way to the bottom of the league’s standings. The Spurs are tanking.
Could they cut their tank short by making another blockbuster deal with the Hawks this summer?
