Why The Toronto Raptors Do The Deal
This deal is conditional for the Raptors, too. It depends on at least two factors.
First, it depends on how they finish their season. If acquiring Jakob Poeltl was enough to turn it around, they may not want to make significant changes.
Moreover, it depends on what pick they’re getting from the Rockets. We already established that Houston wouldn’t give up the first or second pick for Towns. The Raptors probably shouldn’t accept Sengun with the fifth or sixth pick for Siakam, either.
On the other hand, if it’s the third pick? It’s go time. Sengun has flashed star potential, and the opportunity to draft Amen Thompson ought to be too much for the Raptors to pass on.
