Why The Chicago Bulls Do The Deal 

Depending on what the Bulls do this summer, this deal may not even be plausible. 

With that said, Nikola Vucevic’s deal is expiring. If the Bulls let him walk, or even sign him to a smaller deal than the one he’s on now, they should have the cap space to absorb Simmons. 

They may want to keep Vucevic around. After all, he should be a perfect compliment to Simmons. In fact, Vucevic may be the stretch big man Simmons needs to succeed. 

Even if he opts to go elsewhere, this deal makes sense for Chicago. Simmons’ superior athleticism and size give him a higher ceiling than Ball moving forward.

If he can return to his old form, and the Bulls can put the right group around him, this should be an upgrade.
